Beam Detection

Beam detectors employ a projected light beam to detect smoke across expansive, open areas where traditional point smoke detectors would be inefficient or uneconomical. Xtralis has advanced this technology with its Open-Area Smoke Imaging Detection (OSID) range.

OSID systems offer reliable, cost-effective smoke detection for challenging open spaces, where very early warning may not be the primary concern. They incorporate advanced CMOS imaging technology, which significantly streamlines installation and enhances detection performance.

The CMOS imager locks onto its target, mitigating issues like building movement, foreign object intrusion, and sunlight saturation, thereby drastically reducing nuisance alarms. This innovative approach aims to lower installation time, maintenance expenses, and the overall cost of ownership.

The range includes OSID Dual Ended models, which use both infrared and ultraviolet light to differentiate real smoke from other objects, and OSID Reflective models, which operate on light obscuration principles with an infrared beam for dependable smoke detection.
