School, College and University Wireless Fire Detection – Handpicked Solutions by Eurofyre

Search

Schools, colleges and universities are educational institutions. They provide learning environments and spaces for students and come in all shapes and sizes. Education facilities can serve just a few students and faculty members, or thousands of students and faculty members and can welcome other visitors and personnel on a daily basis. Therefore, it is essential that, no matter what the size of the facility, they have suitable fire detection solutions in place.

Some schools, colleges and universities are historic buildings and are protected by authorities and, therefore, running cabling for fire deception systems may not be practical or possible. It is also important that the fire detection system installed can be deployed quickly and with minimal disruption to the day-to-day activities in active schools.

Wireless Fire Detection

Traditional type, hardwired fire detection systems can require miles of cabling to deploy the necessary devices to every location. This can be disruptive, time consuming and damaging to property. Wireless fire detection, on the other hand, does not require lengthy cable runs and can, therefore, be delivered quickly, discreetly and with minimal disruption.

Modern wireless fire detection systems can also be combined with new or existing hardwired fire detection to create a hybrid system that provides the best of both worlds.

This means that wireless fire detection can provide the ideal solution for educational facilities. Furthermore, wireless fire detection can be easily expanded so that facilities that may change layout over years to accommodate new requirements can be easily catered for.

Wi-Fyre Xenos

Wi-Fyre Xenos systems can be installed in just a matter of days. The exact wireless infrastructure required for the system to operate efficiently can be predetermined by conducting a Xenos system survey and devices can be pre-programmed away from the education facility to reduce installation time. This means precise planning, equipment requirements and costs are guaranteed.

Wi-Fyre Xenos wireless fire detection systems are fully certified to the relevant EN54 standards and offer the highest performing range of fire sensing and notification to provide the best possible solution for protecting schools, colleges and universities from fire.

Wireless Architecture

A Wi-Fyre Xenos system includes at least one Xenos Translator Module. Each translator can manage up to 128 Xenos wireless devices and is used to create the unique wireless infrastructure and manage protocol communications with the fire alarm control panel. Xenos Expander Modules can also be used to extend the range of the network by up to 1km per module and increase the stability and continuity of the system.

The user can lock the translator module with a password to prevent unauthorised access and avoid residents tampering with the system.

Handpicked Products for Schools, Colleges and Universities

Wi-Fyre Xenos fire alarm systems are suitable for most schools, colleges and universities. For this type of facility a Wi-Fyre Xenos system will typically include the following components:

Addressable Fire Alarm Panel

Advanced MxPro 5 1-2 Loop Addressable Fire Alarm Panel

These are expandable from 1 to 2 loops and are supplied with 2 onboard sounder circuits, 20 programmable zonal LEDs with slide-in labels and 25 system LEDs for information purposes. Each loop can power up to 6 Wi-Fyre Xenos Translators.

Wireless Translators & Expanders

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Translator

The Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Translator module is the main component of a Wi-Fyre Xenos intelligent hybrid fire detection and alarm system. When connected to a compatible loop, the Xenos Translator Module can wirelessly link up to 128 wireless field devices to the fire alarm system.

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Expander

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Expanders provide a convenient method to increase the radio communication range by relaying the information to other expanders or directly to wireless field devices. This allows the user to create large fully-wireless configurations or to add wireless devices into areas where cabling for translators is not possible.

Elmedene Power Supply Unit

Elmdene STX power supplies are designed for EN 54 compliant fire systems and are certified to EN 54-4:1997, A1:2002 and A2:2006. They provide a full-rated current at 27.6V DC with additional current for battery charging and support intelligent battery charging and monitoring using Elmdene’s EcoCharge technology. These units also feature battery deep discharge protection in the event of a prolonged mains failure.

Wireless Devices

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Optical Smoke Detector

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Optical Smoke Detectors use dual optical smoke detection technologies and algorithms for improved performance whilst maintaining the highest levels of false alarm rejection.

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Heat Detector

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Heat Detectors are designed to give the best possible warning of fire in locations where smoke detection technology is not suitable. They can be configured for either high-temperature or rate-of-rise heat detection.

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Sounder Base

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Sounder Bases can be used as a stand-alone notification device (with a blanking cap) or as a combined detection and alarm device when fitted with a Xenos detector. They have 32 recognised primary and secondary sounder tones and four levels of volume adjustment.

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Sounder VAD Base

The Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Sounder VAD Base is a high-performance device that incorporates an EN54-23 compliant visual alarm device (VAD) to alert people in the event of a fire.

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Manual Call Point

Wi-Fyre Xenos Wireless Manual Call Points have a resettable plastic element. Once the unit has been activated, it can simply be reset using the key provided. The unit includes a transparent cover that protects it from accidental activation and there is a weatherproof enclosure available for outdoor use.

Wireless Site Survey

It is imperative that a wireless survey is conducted prior to installation of a Wi-Fyre Xenos wireless fire alarm system. A wireless survey not only ensures that the alarm system will operate efficiently, but also speeds up installation time.

A survey kit is available from Eurofyre to make carrying out a Wi-Fyre Xenos site survey quick and easy. The Wi-Fyre Xenos Survey Kit provides all the equipment necessary to test the channels or frequency bands that will be used and determine their reliability.  Upon completion, the installer can select the most reliable channels to use. The option to hire a complete survey kit (UK only) makes the process even more cost-effective.

Wireless Remote Programming Support

Programming Xenos devices off-site vastly reduces installation time, reduces the number of engineers required for installation and, ultimately, reduces the overall cost of installation.

Eurofyre has a unique understanding of the challenges of programming on-site; difficult access, multiple trades working in the same area, insufficient workspace and more. Eurofyre offers programming support to ensure you can make good use of the benefits off-site programming provides.
