Introduction

People who are disabled or that use a wheelchair can sometimes have difficulty evacuating a building during an emergency. Therefore, it is important that they are able to easily and efficiently call for help. That’s where Emergency Voice Communication (EVC) systems come in; they are there to provide two-way communication between the emergency services and people who need assistance with evacuation.

EVCs are fixed, monitored and maintained communications systems that allow voice communication in either direction between a central control point and other points, known as outstations, that are located around the building.

Outstations typically consist of a telephone or hands-free communication panel where the person in need of assistance can call for help.

Type A Fire Telephones use a handset for communication and are used in locations where hands-free communication is not required and are most commonly used to provide communication with the command point. However, they are also often used by fire wardens, stewards and marshals in sports venues.

Crisis EVC combines fire telephones, disabled refuge and assist call alarms into one single network, providing significant savings over separate systems and delivering an easy-to-install, low-maintenance package.

The Crisis Type A Red Fire Telephone can be used as a fire telephone or a disabled refuge call point. It is designed for use by multi-disability users, having high contrast signage in line with RNIB guidelines and an induction loop coil in the handset.

Crisis Type A Red Fire Telephones are housed in a red, steel enclosure and can be semi-recess or surface mounted.

They are operated by pushing the door, which is secured by a magnetic push catch, to open it, and lifting the handset. When the handset is lifted, all masters programmed for the line that the Type A Fire Telephone is on will ring. The call is ended by simply replacing the handset.

They have a high-volume ringer and an LED indicator to show when a call is being received or made.

The Crisis Type A Red Fire Telephone is compatible with the Crisis standalone and network systems.
