Product of the Month – FyreLine Digital Linear Heat Detection System

Search

For August’s Product of the Month we would like to introduce Eurofyre’s FyreLine Digital Linear Heat Detection system. This innovative detection system utilises fixed temperature detection to provide an early and reliable warning of excess heat or fire.

FyreLine Digital heat sensing cable is capable of detecting heat from anywhere along its length and has been designed to suit a wide variety of applications. It is highly cost-effective, and can easily be installed to work in conjunction with, or in place of, conventional heat detection technology, where traditional detectors may be ineffective or too costly.

How it Works

FyreLine Digital Heat Sensing cable is made up of two tri-metallic conductors that are twisted together and wrapped in an outer sheath. Each of the conductors is coated in a heat sensitive polymer which, when it reaches its rated temperature, melts, causing the conductors to come into contact with one another. The resulting short sends a signal of fire to the fire alarm control panel. After an alarm has been triggered the damaged length of cable can be easily replaced.

A number of different coatings are available to accommodate a range of different environments. The standard coating is made from PVC which is well suited to most environments, however, when catering for environments that are less than ideal, such as where hazardous chemicals are present, where heat sensing cable will be exposed to UV rays or for environments where the cable may be exposed to mechanical abrasion other coating/sheaths are available.

FyreLine Digital heat sensing cable is available in four different temperature ratings:

  • 68°C / 154.4°F
  • 88°C / 190.4°F
  • 105°C / 221°F
  • 185°C / 365°F

Installation

FyreLine Digital can be connected directly to a single zone of a conventional fire alarm control panel. Alternatively, and addressable zone/switch monitor can be used to interface it to an addressable loop.

Approvals

FyreLine Digital PVC and Nylon coated linear heat detection cables are approved by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and bear the CE mark, indicating that they comply with all the relevant directives, including EMC, CPR and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).

Typical Applications

FyreLine Digital Linear Heat Detection is well suited to a wide range of applications including:
