Overview

All Crisis Emergency Voice Communication Systems (EVCS) are designed to comply with the requirements of BS5839-9:2021 for use as a fire telephone system (FT), disabled refuge system (DRS) or as a combined system when both fire telephones and disabled refuge call points are required.

An EVCS is a fixed, secure, bi-directional, full duplex voice communication system to assist firefighters during emergencies in high-rise buildings or large sites where radio communication cannot be guaranteed to work due to interference from the fire coroner.

The Crisis Type A Red Fire Telephone can be used as a fire telephone or a disabled refuge call point. They are designed for use by multi-disability users, having high contrast signage in line with RNIB guidelines and an induction loop coil in the handset.

Type A outstations, typically installed on or near protected stairwells and at all fire and rescue service access points, are mostly used to provide communication with the command point. However, they may also be used by fire wardens and by stewards and marshals in sports venues.

Crisis Type A Red Fire Telephone is supplied with a red, steel enclosure and can be surface or semi-recess mounted. It is operated by lifting the handset and has a ringer and LED to indicate calling. They have a high-volume ringer and a magnetic push catch keeps the ruggedised handset secure.

The Crisis Type A Red Fire Telephone is compatible with the Crisis standalone and network systems.
