Knowledge BaseDescription
The Crisis Assist Pull Cord Plate is a crucial component of emergency assistance alarm systems, enabling individuals in need, especially those who are disabled or mobility-impaired, to quickly summon help. Commonly installed in locations such as public washrooms, its activation triggers an alarm that is promptly displayed and attended to, typically at a building’s reception desk. The plate is designed for ease of use, with the lowest ring pull recommended to be mounted 100mm from the floor, ensuring accessibility even for someone who has fallen.
Designed and manufactured in the UK, the plate is available in a single gang configuration with options for a brushed stainless steel or light grey acrylic finish, and includes an LED indicator for visual alarm confirmation. An important optional feature is the anti-ligature antimicrobial cord, which is designed with weak zones that break under heavy strain, mitigating risks of self-harm in sensitive environments.
This pull cord plate adheres to rigorous standards, complying fully with BS5839-9:2011 for use within disabled refuge systems (DRS) and BS8300. It offers flexible integration, connecting seamlessly into a Crisis Emergency Voice Communication (EVC) system or operating independently via a Crisis Assist Controller.
Wiring is straightforward, utilising standard two-core cable, which allows up to six pull cords to be connected on a single line in any order, providing considerable flexibility for installation routes. Each plate features two sets of two-part terminals, simplifying cable connections and offering a complete first-fix solution. The system also meets EMC and LVD standards, guaranteeing reliable and safe operation.
