Linear heat detection provides fast and reliable detection of fire or overheat events. It is easy to install and maintain and is extremely cost effective. Linear heat detection systems use heat sensing cable to detect changes in temperature. Heat sensing cable can provide general protection of a specific area or can be installed along equipment such as  warehouse racking, cable trays, conveyor belts and more to provide more localised protection.

Once a fire, or overheat event, has been detected, an accurate location of the event can be provided, allowing the potential issue to be identified and dealt with in a timely manner.

FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection

FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection

When used as a complete system, FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection systems provide fixed heat detection that is approved to the European standard for non-resettable line-type heat detectors; BS EN54-28:2016.

FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Sensing Cable is made up of two cores that are coated in a heat sensitive polymer and twisted together before being wrapped in an outer sheath. Once the heat sensitive polymer reaches its rated temperature it melts, causing the two cores to come in contact with each other. The resulting short circuit triggers an event at the systems’ control panel.

Once an event has been triggered, the systems’ control panel calculates the distance along the heat sensing cable to where the event occurred, enabling the user to locate and deal with the cause.

The FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection system is made up of three components: FyreLine EN54 Fixed LSZH LHD Cable, FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller and FyreLine EN54 Fixed End Of Line (EOL); all of which must be used for the system to meet the EN54 standard.

Approvals

EN54-28 is the European standard for non-resettable line-type heat detectors that consist of a sensing element that uses electrical sensor cable. It specifies the requirements and performance criteria; and the corresponding test methods. This European standard also covers non-resettable line-type heat detectors intended for use in the local protection of plant and equipment.

Please note: to comply with EN54-28, the FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller, FyreLine EN54 Fixed EOL and FyreLine EN54 Fixed LSZH LHD Cable must be used as a complete system.

All products in the FyreLine EN54 range are approved for use within the European Economic Area (EEA) and comply with the EU’s New Approach Directives and show the CE mark to indicate that they fulfill the requirements of relevant European product directives; meet all the requirements of the relevant recognised European harmonised performance and safety standards; and are fit for purpose and will not endanger lives or property.

FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller

The FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller can monitor up to two zones of FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection cable. It continually checks the heat sensing cable for fault (open circuit) or alarm conditions and reports it’s condition back to the fire alarm control panel.

Once a fire has been detected, the FyreLine Fixed Controller provides an accurate location of the event to allow the end-user to quickly investigate the alarm and take the necessary action.

The FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller is designed for installation between the heat detection cable and fire alarm control panel and has power, fault and alarm volt-free outputs as well as LED indication.

Each zone can operate independently, each supporting upto 1000m of cable, or in interlock mode for when alarm verification is required. A separate alarm and normally conducting fault output are also provided for each zone.

Key Features

1000m Per Zone

The FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller can support up to two zones of up to 1000m of cable.

Offers two system configurations

Independent mode

In independent mode, FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection operates a dual zone detection solution. Both zones operate independently and when a fault or overheat condition occurs, the corresponding fault or alarm output is triggered.

Interlock Mode

Also known as coincidence detection, interlock mode is for applications that require a guarantee that an alarm is only triggered when an event has been detected. Two separate cables are used and the alarm output is only activated when they both trigger an alarm due to an overheat condition.

Provides accurate location of overheat event

When an alarm is triggered, the FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller automatically calculates and displays the distance along the cable to the alarm point, thus providing the end-user with the exact location of the event.
