Product Spotlight – Crisis Green Type B Refuge Outstation

5 mins read

When an emergency that requires evacuation occurs, disabled refuge areas provide people in need of assistance with somewhere relatively safe to call for help and wait for assistance.

Quite often, people with mobility problems or those that use a wheelchair can find it difficult to follow evacuation routes and get themselves to safety, especially if the safest path out of the building is by stairs. Therefore, UK law requires all non-domestic premises where an emergency exit is by stairs, or the building has more than one floor, to have disabled refuge points in place.

A disabled refuge will typically consist of at least one outstation that provides hands-free communication with a master station installed at a central location. This allows those in need of assistance to easily communicate with building managers or the emergency services to get help leaving the building.

Crisis EVC allows all emergency voice communications to be installed as part of one communication network. Fire telephones, disabled refuge and assist call alarms can all be connected to the same system providing significant cost savings over separate systems and delivering an easy-to-install, low-maintenance  and reliable system.
