The Genuine VESDA Filter Cartridge (VSP-005) is vital for optimal performance of VESDA aspirating smoke detectors, including LaserCOMPACT, LaserFOCUS, LaserPLUS, and LaserSCANNER models. Its function is to remove dust from sampled air, protecting the detector’s internal optics. This ‘easy swap’ filter fits VLC, VLF, VLP, and VLS detectors, sold individually or in packs of 20.

Regular replacement is critical for maintaining detector efficiency, recommended every two years, or more often in dusty conditions. Users can assess their filter’s age by comparing its label colour to a provided chart, with immediate replacement indicated if outdated.

Before replacement, advise monitoring authorities of temporary downtime. The surrounding area must be clean, and the old filter removed and discarded, as it is single-use only. Following insertion of the new filter, the detector needs to be notified of its installation.

Detectors older than ten years should consider an upgrade, with the VESDA Detector Replacement Program offering cost savings. The VSP-005 filter is broadly compatible with various VESDA VLF, VLC, Marine, VLC-EX, Xtralis XCC, VLP, and VLS models.
