The Crisis Combined Type A & B Outstation is a UK-manufactured Emergency Voice Communication System (EVCS) component designed for critical two-way communication during emergencies. Compliant with BS5839-9:2011, it functions as a fire telephone, disabled refuge call point, or a combined unit, as per standard.

An EVCS provides a fixed, secure, bi-directional, full-duplex voice communication system, essential for firefighters in high-rise buildings or large sites where radio signals may be unreliable. BS5839-9:2011 governs the design, installation, and operation of these crucial fire telephone and disabled refuge systems.

For multi-disability users, the outstation features high-contrast signage (RNIB guidelines) and an induction loop coil (BSEN60118-4) for the hearing impaired, with a high volume ringer. Encased in a brushed stainless steel enclosure, it houses a rugged red telephone handset behind a push door and integrates with Crisis standalone or network EVCS.

Installation requires mounting the unit at 1250mm from the floor to its centreline, adhering to Building Regulations Document M for disabled access. This is particularly relevant for fire fighting lift lobbies, as detailed in BS9999 and Approved Document B. A stainless steel bezel is available to enable flush-mounting.
