What is LPCB Approval?
When installing a fire alarm system it is important to ensure that the system meets all the necessary requirements, thus providing safe and reliable fire detection.
The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) has been working for more than 100 years to set the high standards needed to make certain that fire and security products function effectively, offering third-party approval certifying that products and services have met, and will continue to meet, suitable standards. Having LPCB certification allows installers and specifiers alike to ensure that the product will work as required and enables manufacturers and suppliers to demonstrate the quality of their products.
Many installers and specifiers look for the LPCB mark of ratification when dealing with fire alarm installation. By selecting LPCB approved products they can reduce fire safety risks, demonstrate due diligence and abstain from wasting time researching products and wasting money purchasing unsuitable equipment.
Manufacturers also benefit from having their products approved by the LPCB, showing that their products are specified worldwide and recognised for the ability to conform time and time again.

Addressable

Conventional

The Detectors
Both the addressable and conventional optical smoke detectors use a pulsing IR LED and photodiode to detect IR scatter caused by smoke entering the chamber. ProFyre optical smoke detectors are particularly suitable for detecting optically dense smoke involving materials such as PVC, foam, plastic, soft furnishings and all similar materials which produce small visible particles.
The ProFyre rate-of-rise heat detectors use a thermistor arrangement to sense a quick rise in temperature combined with a final threshold temperature of 57°C. Fixed heat detectors have a single thermistor arrangement that gives an alarm at a temperature of 90°C.
