Nottingham Railway Station Fire
Earlier this year, fire services were called to Nottingham railway station which had recently been refurbished in a multi-million pound project. The fire was started in a set of women’s toilets on the new side of the station in a suspected arson attack.
The fire broke out at around 06:30 on the morning of Friday 12th January 2018 and smoke and flames could be seen pouring through the roof of the building. It took more than sixty firefighters and nearly twelve hours to bring the blaze under control.
The fire spread rapidly through the building and is reported to have caused an estimated £2m worth of damage. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire. However, many journeys were delayed and repair works are still not complete.
