Fire Alarm Systems – Hotel & Leisure Sector

4 mins read

Buildings in the hotel and leisure sector such as theaters, cinemas, hotels and sports stadiums have distinctive obligations with regards to life safety. They are busy, hectic environments in which accommodate a large quantity of people across a number of different areas and floors. Therefore, it is essential that fire is detected swiftly to, ensure a quick and efficient evacuation of the building to prevent injuries or fatalities.

Theatre Royal Fire

The fire at Theatre Royal is the most tragic theatre fire in British history. The fire broke out on September 5th 1887 during an evening performance. A piece of scenery was ignited by a gas burner which fell onto the stage causing fire to spread quickly throughout auditorium.

In the panic, the audience rushed to leave the building. However, many of them struggled to find their way through the thick smoke and the exits were poorly arranged, this left many trapped and despite the best efforts from the audience and passers by, many people did not make it to safety. The lack of fire exits resulted in a large number of injuries and over one hundred fatalities.

The Importance of a Reliable Fire System in the Hotel and Leisure Sector

Hotels and leisure facilities receive a number of public visitors and personnel daily, as well as hosting a wide range of events for large numbers of guests. The large amount (hundreds of thousands) of people that hotel and other leisure facilities receive each day means that if a fire is to break out, it is imperative that everyone is provided with a suitable amount of time to reach safety. With this in mind, all buildings within the hotel and leisure sector must ensure their fire alarm system is up-to-date, well maintained and able to provide a fast and reliable warning of fire.

Cost effective solution

The average lifespan of a fire detection system is around the ten year mark and, although the initial cost of the system should be considered, the total cost ownership (servicing, maintenance, and breakdown charges) should also be highly regarded.

Open Protocol Solution

Many systems available today are provided with a ‘closed’ protocol. This means all of its devices and control panels use their own, unique code and access to its technical details are not readily available.

Eurofyre believe that the client should have the flexibility to employ their own fire system maintainer and, therefore, provide the highest level of support possible. As well as this, Eurofyre’s ProFyre range of fire detection systems all provide an ‘open’ protocol solution, giving the owner complete control of how the system is managed.

We also provide full support, manuals, software, access codes and spare parts regardless of who is selected to manage or maintain the fire alarm system, providing third-party manufacturers and suppliers the chance to supply compatible equipment using the same protocol.

Analogue Addressable

The ProFyre range of intelligent analogue addressable fire detection equipment deliver a high quality, complete and reliable fire detection system for small to large, complex, networkable sites.

The ProFyre range of analogue addressable is built on a flexible and reliable communication protocol that is expandable in order to meet future developments.

Its provides a simple user interface that utilises a high-visibility LCD display for all end-user and engineer’s needs. Initial configuration, additions or minor changes can be set-up at the system’s control panel. All ProFyre loop devices can be addressed via DIL switches or using a hand-held programmer.

ProFyre C8 and C24

The ProFyre C8 and C24 devices have been designed with ease of commissioning and installation in mind, thus providing a saving in associated costs and time. The ProFyre C8 and C24 fire detection systems have a high quality and an attractive finish, enabling the products to be installed in even the most aesthetically demanding environments.

Complemented by the full range of ProFyre conventional field devices, the ProFyre C8 and C24 provide the ideal solution for small to large applications that require a system that demands clear alarm management and ease of use.
