Eurofyre’s Product of the Year – FyreLine Analogue Linear Heat Detection System

Search

This year we have featured a different product each month on our website and in our newsletter. But, out of all of our featured products, which one do we think deserves the title of “Product of the Year”? Well, the answer is… Our FyreLine Analogue Linear Heat Detection System.

Linear Heat Detection – A Forgotten Technology

Linear heat detection can provide reliable fire detection across a huge range of applications. Linear heat detection cable can be used in lengths in excess of a kilometer and is capable of detecting excess heat anywhere along its length.

Linear heat detection is extremely cost-effective and can easily be installed alongside, or in place of, traditional or conventional heat detectors. It can operate in areas where traditional type detection may be difficult to install or maintain, is too expensive or unable to provide reliable detection.

Typical applications where linear heat detection can provide superior fire detection include: Cable trays, conveyor belts, fixed roof tanks, tunnels, car parks, escalators, thatched roofs, power stations and many more.

Why Eurofyre Chose FyreLine Analogue Linear Heat Detection System as the Product of the Year?

Eurofyre’s FyreLine Analogue Linear Heat Detection System is:

  • Cost-effective
  • Low-maintenance
  • Easy to install
  • Able to provide detection at the point of risk
  • Self-restorable after detection of fire
  • UL 521 approved and compliant with the EN54:22 draft standard

How does it work?

FyreLine Analogue heat sensing cable is made up of four wires: 2 copper conducting wires, a calibration resistance wire and an average ambient temperature sensor. All four cables are individually coated and twisted together before being wrapped in a foil shield, outer sheath and a protected coating.FyreLine Analogue

When the ambient temperature changes, the resistance of the copper conductors is altered. This change in resistance signals to the fire alarm control panel that the temperature has increased and, once it reaches its predefined temperature, an alarm is signalled. The ability to detect a change in temperature also means that a pre-alarm temperature can be defined, allowing potential fires to be investigated before a full alarm is triggered.

There are a number of different outer coatings available that make the FyreLine heat sensing cable safe for use in a number of different environments. The standard coating used is made from PVC and is suitable for most environments. However, when the cable is exposed to UV or hazardous chemicals, or in environments where the cable may be subject to mechanical abrasion, nylon, polypropylene and stainless steel coatings are available.

Approvals

Approvals

FyreLine Analogue control modules and PVC coated linear heat detection cables carry the CE mark, indicating that they comply with all the applicable directives, including the CPR, EMC and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). They are also fully approved by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and are compliant with EN54:22, the British Standard for Fire Detection and Alarm Systems – Resettable line-type heat detectors.

FyreLine Analogue Heat Detection is a fast reliable and cost-effective fire detection solution for a range of different applications. It is easy to install and can be used in conjunction with, or in place of, conventional detection technologies, where traditional type detectors may be in effective or too expensive.
