Overview

The 25mm Harsh Environment In-line Filter is a pre-filter designed for aspirating smoke detection (ASD) systems installed in excessively dusty or damp environments, where conventional smoke detectors would be unable to operate reliably. Installed directly into 25mm pipework, it protects the air sampling detector from airborne contamination, while its pleated polyester element traps particles of 30μm and above as standard, with other pore sizes available. The element’s large surface area helps to extend service replacement intervals, and it can be replaced without changing the housing.

The impact-resistant polypropylene housing is supplied with a dedicated mounting bracket, providing a rigid anchor that prevents mechanical stress on pipework joints and allows secure mounting on walls or structural frames in high-vibration industrial settings. Used alongside periodic manual or automatic compressed air purging of the pipe network, the filter has been proven over many years in demanding applications such as switchgear rooms on open-cast mines, where dust storms are a daily occurrence.
