Description

The VESDA-E VES is a next-generation aspirating smoke detector, part of the VESDA-E series, distinguished by its unique valve mechanism that enables addressability across four pipe/sectors. This feature allows a single zone to be segmented into four distinct sub-zones, facilitating precise identification of an alarm’s origin, such as between aisles in a data room. Key attributes include multi-stage filtration, a wide sensitivity range, and four configurable alarm levels per pipe/sector, complemented by Autolearn capabilities for smoke and flow.

The detector operates by continuously drawing air from all connected pipes. Should smoke levels exceed an Adaptive Scan Threshold, the VES initiates a scan of each sector to pinpoint the source. The first sector to reach an Alert level is designated the First Alarm Sector (FAS) and signalled to the user. This process is powered by Flair Detection Technology, a revolutionary chamber utilising a CMOS imager and multiple photo-diodes for enhanced stability, increased longevity, and reduced nuisance alarms through direct particle imaging.

For user interaction, the VES-A10 touchscreen display presents smoke levels via a bar graph and indicates various fault conditions. Upon exceeding the adaptive scan threshold, the display automatically transitions to a Sector status page, providing detailed smoke and alarm levels per sector. Installation is streamlined with a powerful aspirator supporting up to 560m of total pipe length, out-of-box operation through AutoConfig, and full support from Xtralis VSC and ASPIRE software for design, commissioning, and maintenance.

Connectivity is robust, leveraging VESDAnet for a bi-directional communication network that ensures redundant operation. Ethernet and WiFi are standard, enabling wireless integration with corporate networks for monitoring via Xtralis software on tablets or PCs. The VES-E VES also offers backward compatibility, sharing the same mounting footprint, pipe, conduit, and electrical connector positioning as the VESDA VLS, allowing seamless integration with existing VESDAnet installations and legacy detectors.
