Overview

DTSX Fiber Optic Cable is compatible for use with DTSX1 Fiber Optic linear heat detection systems. Available in lengths up to 8 kilometres long, the cable is steel armoured and features a gel-filled interior as well as a halogen-free and flame-retardant outer jacket. The fibre optic cable can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -25° to +70°and allows vast expanses to be monitored for fire or fluctuating temperature conditions. 

The DTSX Fiber Optic Cable uses light scattering detection to identify changes in temperature (the Raman scattering principle) whereby pulses of light sent down the cable are monitored and measured for variances which indicate a change in temperature. The amount of light scattered back down the cable to the light source allows for accurate location of the alert condition.

Cable Construction

The glass fibre optic core of the DTSX cable is encased in a stainless steel tube filled with cushioning gel with a further layer of stainless steel wire, all sheathed in a black flame-retardant non-corrosive outer jacket.

The DTSX Fiber Optic Armoured LHD Cable is EN 54-22 compliant which ensures that it has met the specific requirements of European safety standards governing linear heat fire detection and fire alarm systems, giving confidence in the level of protection they provide from the risk of fire.
