Wi-Fyre – The Convenient Wireless Solution Volume #1

Search

This year we launched our new wireless fire detection system – Wi-Fyre. Wi-Fyre is Eurofyre’s very own wireless fire alarm system that is designed to work seamlessly with new and existing hard-wired fire detection systems.

Eurofyre’s Vision of Wireless Fire Detection

Until recently wireless fire detection has only been available as a whole, system based fire detection solution. This meant that it could only be used for new systems or retrofit systems. Even then, wireless detection was not without its flaws, and not suitable for some applications.

Our innovative wireless detection solution provides system designers with the flexibility to use wireless detection technology wherever necessary – helping them to reduce costs and installation time, whether it is used as part of a new system or to upgrade or extend a new fire alarm system.

Wi-Fyre offers the best of both worlds – combining wired technology with wireless technology, making, exploiting the strengths of both types of technology.

Picture this…

A fire alarm inspection has taken place in your commercial property and it has been deemed non-compliable – no manual call points were found next to emergency exits or stairwells.

In order to comply with regulations, manual call points need to be added to the system. They should be installed at least 1.2m above floor level, making sure they are easily accessible and should be present at escape routes, conspicuous positions, at the entry of floor landing staircases and at all exits to the open, clear air.

However, this means that new cabling must be installed and run from the fire alarm control panel over multiple floors and to various locations across the premises. This could prove a costly exercise and could cause disruption to the building operation.

Enter, Wi-Fyre

Wi-Fyre Solution Example

By integrating Wi-Fyre componentes with your existing fire alarm system it can easily be extended or updated with minimal design or planning and with little disruption. Wi-Fyre allows for new devices to be added to the existing system quickly and easily.

Wi-Fyre offers 6 modes of, user selectable, operation: conventional, standalone, addressable (collective), reflective, ProFyre addressable and ProFyre 2-Wire Addressable making it extremely flexible.

Wi-Fyre Wireless Transponder

WI-Fyre Transponder

Wi-Fyre transponders can be connected directly to the fire alarm control panel with each one able to communicate with up to 30 mixed, field devices.

Wi-Fyre Wireless Manual Call Point

Manual Call Point

Wi-Fyre manual call points are surface mountable and utilise a unique element that mimics the feel of broken glass and, once triggered can be completely reset, without the need to replace any glass. At each point that a manual call point is required for you to reach compliance, a Wi-Fyre manual call point can be installed without the need for wired a connection to the control panel.

Wi-Fyre Wireless Survey

Wireless Survey

It is essential that a wireless survey is carried out prior to installation to ensure that the connection between the Wi-Fyre field devices – in this instance, Wi-Fyre manual call points – and the Wi-Fyre transponder is strong enough for the system to operate effectively.

The Wi-Fyre wireless survey head can be used at the point that a manual call point is to be installed to test the strength of the signal to the transponder. Wi-Fyre wireless survey heads are fitted with an 8-way colour coded rotary LED to show the signal strength between its location and the transponder to ensure that it is positioned correctly.

This is just one scenario where Wi-Fyre Wireless Fire Detection can be used to save costs and reduce installation time and maintenance. If you would like to discuss how you can use Wi-Fyre to benefit your fire alarm system please feel free to give us a call on +44 (0)1329 835024 or email [email protected] where we would be happy to answer any questions.
