Overview

Linear Heat Detection (LHD) provides fast and reliable detection of fire or overheating. It is suitable for use in most environments and is unaffected by airflow, hazardous chemicals or contaminants and for other areas where traditional detection types may underperform.

A Linear Heat Detection system typically consists of at least one length of heat sensing cable and one controller. The heat sensing cable is installed along or around the area to be protected. Heat sensing cable is available with a variety of outer coatings making it suitable for a range of different applications. 

When a fire or overheat event occurs, the temperature of the cable increases. Once the cable reaches a predefined temperature, the controller reports an event to the fire alarm control panel. The controllers can also provide the location of the event to allow fires or potential fires to be quickly identified and dealt with.

The FyreLine Linear Heat Detection Range

There are three different types of Linear Heat Detection available in the FyreLine range, each suited to a variety of applications. These include FyreLine EN54 Fixed, FyreLine Digital and FyreLine Analogue.

FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection

FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection provides a fixed heat detection solution that is approved to BS EN54-28:2016; the European Standard for non-resettable line-type heat detectors.

It supports two zones of up to 1000m and can be connected to either a conventional or addressable fire alarm control panel. The system’s control panel calculates the distance along the cable to the alarm point to provide an accurate location of the overheat event. 

A FyreLine EN54 Fixed Linear Heat Detection system is comprised of three key components; FyreLine EN54 Fixed LSZH LHD Cable, FyreLine EN54 Fixed Controller and FyreLine EN54 Fixed End Of Line (EOL), all of which must be used for the system to meet EN54 requirements.

FyreLine Digital Linear Heat Detection

FyreLine Digital Linear Heat Detection systems provide a cost-effective and reliable fixed temperature heat detection solution that is suited to a wide range of applications. FyreLine Fixed Heat Sensing Cable is available with rated temperatures of either 68°C, 88°C, 105°C or 185°C and can be directly connected to a single zone of a conventional fire alarm control panel or easily interfaced to an addressable loop using an addressable zone/switch monitor.

FyreLine Digital is approved by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL 521) and bears the CE mark to show that it complies with all applicable directives including the CPR, EMC and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD)  for sale within the EU.

FyreLine Analogue Linear Heat Detection

FyreLine Analogue continually monitors for changes in temperature and triggers an alarm once its user-specified temperature is reached. This also gives the user the option to set a pre-alarm temperature, providing the opportunity to investigate a potential fire before the alarm is raised.

FyreLine Analogue is also approved by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL 521) and bears the CE mark to show that it complies with all applicable directives including the CPR, EMC and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD)  for sale within the EU.
