VESDA Detector Replacement Program

3 mins read

As detection technology advances, smoke and heat detection becomes increasingly sophisticated. New methods, components and algorithms mean that fire detection is more efficient, more reliable and more cost-effective than ever before.

With the introduction of the new VESDA VEP, Xtralis have introduced their VESDA Detector Replacement Program – a scheme that offers financial incentives, extended warranty and a range of other benefits when replacing ageing ASD systems with a new VESDA product.

VESDA VEP

VESDA VEP Aspirating smoke detectors use advanced Flair detection technology to deliver a very early warning of fire, while reducing false alarms. The VEP range offers multi-stage filtration and optical protection to provide continual detection performance. The VESDA VEP range is also fully compatible with existing VESDA installations.

Why do Aspirating Smoke Detectors Need Updating?

While many older aspirating smoke detection devices are still as effective as they have ever been, the frequency of failures or servicing requirements may have steadily increased over time. This may be more apparent in devices used in dusty or dirty environments or those that have not been properly maintained.

A typical failure results in unplanned maintenance or total replacement; this can be a costly exercise as well as cause disruption to building operation.

VESDA Detector Replacement Program

This special upgrade program is tailored to the needs of the individual customer and replaces VESDA VLP/VLC or any other branded ASD with the VESDA VEP detector. The Detector Replacement Program provides significant cost savings as part of a volume-based preventative maintenance program.

By replacing ageing detection systems with new technology, detection system owners can save money by reducing emergency service and repair costs, and restore long-term performance and reliability.

While it is good practice to upgrade ageing technology, some countries such as Germany, France, Australia and China are being proactive and insisting that old detectors get replaced, some after just five years from installation.

How to Apply for the VESDA Detector Replacement Program

The first step to apply for the VESDA Detector Replacement Program is to fill out a project application form. This form is used to register a project under the replacement program and includes details such as company name, contact name, site name and address, and integrator and partner information.

Detailed information about the existing equipment and replacements must also be provided.

Once completed, the application form should be sent back to Eurofyre. Once your application has been reviewed, Xtralis will provide written confirmation that the application has been approved.
